Crisis Homelessness Awareness Training 2021
19.07.2021
Last month, Crisis delivered the second instalment of our Crisis Homelessness Awareness Training (CHAT) course for key partners and supporters.
Split across three sessions, the training addressed key questions around homelessness and gave attendees the opportunity to hear from Crisis experts as well as people with lived experience of homelessness.
“I was really pleased to be part of CHAT and to share my experience of homelessness and how Crisis was there in my time of need. Hopefully, sharing stories like this will help to change perceptions of the homeless and go towards ending this plight.” – Owen, Crisis Member Ambassador
Each session was designed to be interactive and engaging, with breakout activities, energising challenges and Crisis prizes up for grabs. Attendees were able to build on what they learnt in each session through simple and achievable takeaway tasks, as well as connect with other colleagues and organisations who support Crisis.
“I found the sessions fascinating – the mixture of expert leads for each week along with the breakout sessions meant there was lots of time for questions and to connect with others on the course. The session on framing really made me think differently about how I can have a conversation with others on homelessness, especially where they may have a different perspective on its causes to me.” – Lisa Belletty, People's Postcode Lottery
Everyone who completed the training received a practical toolkit and invitation to join our online community in order to stay informed, inspired and empowered to help us make homelessness a thing of the past.
“CHAT served as a reminder that addressing homelessness is something we should all be committed to. All of us have a moral right to housing and we should do what we can to prevent homelessness affecting every single person in our society.” – Sally Healy, Berkeley Foundation
We would like to say a huge thank you to attendees from partner organisations including: Berkeley Foundation, Hitachi Capital (UK), JLL, The Mill Charitable Trust, Oak Foundation, People's Postcode Lottery and PwC.
